Amanda R DeWitt

30-something teacher trying to figure it all out

December 3, 2018

Hello December 2018

I just wanted to check in to say…this is my last week of my last semester of classes and I’m freaking out!

I just wrapped up my Final Practicum which was about 66 hours in a 5th grade classroom in Millard Public Schools.

I learned so much this semester. I had the opportunity to lead morning meetings and led some fun writing activities including a persuasive piece on cats vs dogs. I made my own rubric as well (note the picture on the rubric ;)).

I’m going to miss them SO much. Hopefully their teacher will let me visit sometime!

I have student teaching starting in January in a 3rd grade classroom. It’s surreal. I feel like I’m getting so close and for awhile I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make it at all.

Meanwhile at home…

We adopted another cat! Her name is Ethel. Ethel Beavers. We adopted her as a result of our many trips to Felius, Omaha’s first cat cafe. This makes 3 furry friends in our house.

I think that also makes us crazy cat people and we are okay with that. 🙂

Okay, I should probably get back to my final projects. 🙂

Tell me…

What are you up to this month? Did you have senioritis your last year of school??

Thank you for sharing!
